Bakery & coffee house · Est. 2014

Bread in the morning, nowhere to be.

A bakery that happens to make very good coffee. We open before the street does, the loaves come out at seven, and the corner table is yours for as long as you want it.

Fresh loaves on the counter

Cardamom buns

Out of the oven at 08:30. They rarely last until nine.

Today at the oven

Everything has a time.

We bake in batches through the day rather than all at once, so whatever you pick up is closer to warm than it is to yesterday.

Where it comes from

Two suppliers, both within an hour.

Flour comes from a mill up the valley and the beans are roasted eight kilometres away on a Tuesday. Everything else we make in the room you are standing in.

Behind the counter

Nine of us, four ovens, one very old mixer.

Most of the team has been here longer than the espresso machine, which we replaced twice.

Before you ask

The things people wonder about.

Can I work here on a laptop?

Before eleven and after two, yes, and the wifi is free. Between those hours we ask for the tables back so people can eat lunch.
